Some families love the buffet and the kids’ club, and some are looking for something else: a kitchen to make purée when it suits the baby, a fridge for milk, a living room where the children can play as evening falls and the feeling of living on the island for a few days. For them, we have brought together our favourite apartments in the Canary Islands.
Gran Canaria: apartments with their own beach
In the south of Gran Canaria, Anfi del Mar Resorts has one- and two-bedroom apartments with kitchens and direct access to Anfi del Mar beach. There is also a mini club and pools with slides, so you get the independence of an apartment with the facilities of a resort.
La Graciosa: living in Caleta de Sebo
La Graciosa invites you to forget the car and the clock. In Caleta de Sebo, Apartamentos Graciosamar has two-bedroom units for up to five people, with a kitchen and a travel cot available, a few minutes from the harbour. Nearby, Apartamentos La Pardela has fully equipped kitchens, options for four and five people and the village beach just steps away. To get there, the ferry from Órzola takes around 25 to 30 minutes.
El Hierro: peace by the sea
In La Restinga, Apartamentos Tanajara offers studios and one- and two-bedroom apartments opposite the playground, next to the Mar de las Calmas marine reserve. In the El Golfo valley, Finca Afortunada, in Las Puntas, has apartments with kitchens and a shared pool among palm trees, about 100 metres from the coast.
La Gomera: “Baby Beach” just steps away
In Valle Gran Rey, Apartamentos Jardín del Conde has kitchens and a heated pool, a short walk from Charco del Conde, the natural pool known as “Baby Beach”. On the other side of the island, Apartamentos Tapahuga, in Playa de Santiago, faces the beach, with fully equipped kitchens, a pool and a sun terrace with ocean views.
La Palma: right on Los Cancajos beach
Hacienda San Jorge sits right on Los Cancajos beach, with self-catering apartments, two-bedroom units for up to five people and a saltwater pool among gardens.
Making the most of the kitchen
An apartment means unhurried breakfasts, meals for the little ones made your way and dinners out saved for special days. For those, our family restaurants section lists places with high chairs, kids’ menus and terraces on every island. And to compare with hotels that have kids’ clubs, see our family hotels in the Canary Islands.
